BIOGRAPHY

Krissi Campbell grew up in the music industry in Toronto. She has been surrounded by famous faces and music her entire life. She began taking photos at age 14, the year Annie Leibovitz’s first retrospective was published, and started working for a record label at 17. That same year she answered the phone at home and took a message for her father from Lou Reed.

Krissi took black and white photography courses throughout High School and University shooting portraits of her peers along the way and graduated from York University in June, 2000.

Upon graduating Krissi was hired full-time at BMG Music Canada as in-house graphic designer. She had already interned in the National Promotions, A&R and International Marketing departments while at school.

Krissi continued to photograph in her spare time and was the unofficial in-house photographer at the label. She took photos of visiting artists Foo Fighters, The Strokes, Christina Aguilera,

OutKast and Pink to name a few. She moved from Creative Services to Creative A&R two years later where she was responsible for artist imaging, video production and providing visuals for marketing tools. She worked closely with artists like Sloan, Our Lady Peace, Wyclef Jean, Jeremy Fisher, jacksoul, and Tom Green.

Krissi moved to Montreal in the middle of winter 2006 and integrated once again into the milieu of music. She took her first steps as a professional photographer on music video sets. Some of the artists Krissi has photographed on-set include: Emmanuel Moire, Malajube, Vitaa, and The Cliks. The dynamics of “get in, shoot, get out” helped Krissi further establish her style as a portraitist.

In 2007 Krissi’s photographs of the French glam-rock band Fancy appeared in Rock & Folk magazine in France. Her photos have also appeared in Clin D’Oeil, Reader’s Digest, Hemispheres, 7 Jours.

Also captured by Krissi’s lens: Dionne Warwick, Twin Atlantic, Hunter Valentine, Roch Voisine, Maxime Landry, Florence K, Mario Pelchat, Catherine Major, Marie-Mai and Yoan to name a few.
